Google Slowly Rolling Out Android Pay on Thursday, Shares Firm

Google’s (GOOG, GOOGL) Android Pay is slowly rolling out on Thursday before reaching most Android phones (with NFC) running Android 4.4 KitKat or above within the next week.

Android Pay allows a person to make contactless payments using a smartphone at participating retailers. Visa (V), MasterCard (MA), American Express (AXP), and Discover (DFS) cards from banks including Bank of America (BAC), US Bank, PNC, and others can be added to Android Pay starting Thursday. Citi (C) and Wells Fargo (WFC) will begin supporting the platform within the next few days.

Google has re-released Google Wallet as a separate app now focused strictly on payments between friends and family.
